The 2023 McCallie-Dr Pepper Classic is a showcase of some of the best high school basketball talent and teams in Tennessee and the nation. But it is always more than that.

The basketball event brings together the community for two days of entertainment featuring an impactful luncheon with a prominent guest speaker, a nationally-ranked team, four highly-competitive squads, a dunk contest, and a three-point shooting contest all typically before standing-room-only crowds.

The Eighth Annual Dr Pepper Classic is February 10-11 and promises to be one of the best.

Phil Ford

Tar Heel legion Phil Ford played four years at the University of North Carolina. A consensus All-American in '76, '77, and '78, he was named college player of the year in 1978, when he won the Eastman, USBWA College Player of the Year and John R. Wooden Award. He finished his college career as the leading all time scorer in school history with 2,290 points. The second pick in the first round of the NBA Draft, Ford was Rookie of the Year with the Kansas City Kings in 1979. Over his career, Phil scored over 5,500 points and had over 3,000 assist.
